Dublin City University is a young, dynamic and ambitious university with a distinctive mission to transform lives and societies through education, research and innovation. We are a research-intensive, globally engaged institution that is distinguished by the quality and impact of its graduates and focus on the translation of knowledge into societal and economic benefit. Excellence in education and research activities has led to our consistent ranking in the top 100 of the world’s young universities (QS Top 100 under 50).
The English Language School is based at the heart of Dublin City University’s main campus at Glasnevin, Dublin. Established in 1992 as Ireland’s first university language school, it has personnel of more than 40 full-time staff and a student body in excess of 10,000 per annum.
DCU has extensive experience in the provision of language training on our Dublin campuses, on partner premises throughout Ireland, and internationally to partner universities.
DCU will seek to develop student language skills, cultural skills, worldliness and maturity through a blended model of academic language immersion and extra-curricular cultural engagement. In addition, DCU will provide a suite of non-academic services to international students, including (but not limited to) accommodation placements, immigration support, airport transfers and pastoral care.
Participants will be assigned a mentor who is a permanent, valued member of staff at DCU. The mentor will guide, support and provide feedback to participants through the various stages of the programme, including building students’ language and technical skills; developing cultural skills; and developing the maturity and life skills of participants. This supportive learning environment will ensure students reach their full potential and engage in creative, dynamic projects that can positively impact participants’ long term development.
